Because Confucius couldn’t find his footing in Wei, he scurried into Song. A newly emergent landlord in Song by the name of Huan Tui threatened to kill Confucius being that Confucius was a faithful lackey of the slave owners. Confucius hemmed and hawed, on one hand muttering, “I possess the innate qualities of heaven, so I have no fear of him killing me,” and on the other hand he immediately took to his heels and made himself scarce.
